Special Collections and University Archives welcomes students and faculty back for Fall 2009!
Furloughs: The department, with the rest of the library, will be affected by the CSU furlough schedule. This will result in fewer available class sessions in Special Collections, especially at the beginning of the semester. If you would like to have a class session in Special Collections in Fall Semester, please contact us as soon as possible to determine availability. Please also contact us if you plan on using the collections for a specific assignment. Also, consider having your class session towards the middle or end of the semester in October or November, when there will likely be more availability. Our webpage will be updated when our departmental hours are established for Fall 2009.
Internships: Unfortunately, our internship program will also be affected by the CSU furlough schedule. We will not be accepting interns this semester. Please check back next semester.

Workshops for History Students: An evening workshop on the basics of Special Collections and Archives is currently being designed to meet the needs of undergraduate and graduate students who need an introduction to archival research. This workshop will cover vocabulary basics; using finding aids and our Finding Aid Database; using manuscript and archival collections; using the Reading Room; and finding digital collections online. Scheduling information will be forthcoming on our website. Please contact us if you would like to discuss assigning student attendance at this workshop as extra credit in a class.
Survey: We're trying to serve you better by assessing the instructional experience in Special Collections. If you are a History Faculty member who has had a class session in Special Collections in the past couple of years, please take our survey about instructional needs.
